Children in the primary grades participate in Godly Play, a distinctive approach to Christian formation for children.  Based on the Montessori method of learning, the goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language – parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action – to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

Godly Play is a discovery method that engages the whole child – hands, heart, mind, senses, and intuition.  Using a careful telling of scripture stories, engaging story figures, and a variety of creative activities, children are encouraged to wonder, to seek and find their own answers to their faith questions and, as they grow, to explore alternate meanings for familiar stories.  This unique approach to religious education invites children to explore God and the world and their place in the world for themselves in a way that is playful and meaningful to them.  There are separate classes for children in kindergarten/first grade and second/third grades.
