Who We Are

Mission Statement: We are Christ’s hands, feet, and voice in this world.

Our mission statement expresses our belief that God is active in this world through us. We strive to be a faith community that prioritizes service to those beyond our walls. Through our service and with our voices, our goal is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, advocate for justice, and care for those in need.

Inclusive and Affirming

St. Timothy’s is proud to be a member of the Rainbow Faith Coalition, which fosters relationships between LGBTQ+ affirming faith communities and collaborates alongside the LGBTQ+ community as partners for justice and equality. St. Timothy’s honors and celebrates LGBTQ+ identities as God-given. Fully living into these identities is not a barrier to marriage, membership, leadership or ordination, or any other form of participation in the life of St. Timothy’s.

About the Episcopal Church

From the National Church:

“We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.

We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.”

The Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is the official book of worship of the Episcopal Church. It provides liturgical forms, prayers, and instructions so that all members and orders of the Episcopal Church may appropriately share in common worship. At St. Timothy’s, the entire liturgy, along with readings and hymns, are printed in a weekly bulletin.

The Lectionary

Our readings are primarily determined by the Revised Common Lectionary. The Lectionary is a table of readings from Scripture appointed to be read at public worship, providing for a three-year cycle.
