Education at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church is called “Christian Formation” because our instruction is oriented toward creating disciples (kids and adults). Christian Formation is the lifelong journey of living into the fullness of our God-created selves. At St. Timothy’s we believe that as we deepen our understanding of our faith we are better able to live into our baptismal covenant; that is, to be Christ’s hands and feet and voice in the world. What’s Christian Formation? Is this Sunday school?
Why don’t we call it Sunday school? Education at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and School is called “Christian Formation” because our instruction is oriented toward creating disciples (young and old). We of-fer a variety of programs for children aged 3 up through high school that seek to tell the sacred stories of our faith while helping children (little and big!) to find their place in God’s continuing story.
Our commitment to you
As a baptismal community we are committed to modeling, teaching, and participating in the faith life of all our children. To fulfill that promise, we will with God’s help, provide a safe, fun and nurturing learning en-vironment for all children to continue their development as disciples of Christ.
One of the most important ways you can help with your child’s formation is to join us in our work. You don’t need to be a skilled teacher or seasoned leader to help with your child’s Christian growth. An extra set of hands, an encouraging presence, and a willingness to serve make a huge difference! When children see their parents participate in their development it underscores the importance of this experience.
It’s as easy as Taking 5!
Christian Formation begins at home. Pray with your child. As a family set aside five minutes (that’s it!) to share your highs and lows…What went well today? What didn’t go as hoped? Then offer it all up to God. It’s a simple prayer, thanking God for the blessings found in each day. And a petition for God’s grace to mend a hurt, shed new light, or maybe fill you with peace. You’re never too young or too old to Take 5!
